About the AssignmentWe are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead engineering delivery for critical building services and installations within a major industrial transformation program for fossil-free steel production. You will drive coordinated engineering efforts across HVAC, VVS, potable water, BMS integration and sprinkler systems—ensuring safe, cost-effective, and timely delivery in a complex heavy-industry environment with both brownfield and greenfield elements.
Job Description- Lead and manage engineering activities for large-scale CAPEX projects with focus on building services, including ventilation, heating/VVS, potable water and BMS/HVAC integration
- Own interface coordination and constructability reviews to identify clashes, reduce rework, and optimize layouts
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet safety, quality, regulatory and project requirements through design, procurement and construction
- Coordinate interdisciplinary engineering leadership across internal teams, external consultants, suppliers and construction subcontractors
- Challenge design-to-cost proposals, support procurement alignment, and follow up engineering cost forecasts and performance
- Support and govern engineering support services and workflows to strengthen partner performance
- Drive technical decisions related to HVAC, sprinkler systems, BMS integration and equipment layouts with focus on operational reliability and start-up readiness
- Follow up engineering schedules and secure timely delivery of drawings, specifications and required certifications for construction and commissioning
- Mentor and lead team members, promoting collaboration, a safety-first culture and continuous improvement
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience, including at least 5 years in hands-on engineering leadership
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in Sweden
- Proven track record managing engineering delivery in large industrial projects (e.g., steel, pulp & paper, refinery, oil & gas or similar)
- Deep technical knowledge of HVAC, VVS, potable water systems, sprinkler systems and BMS/HVAC integration, applicable to Nordic conditions and standards
- Strong experience in interface coordination and constructability reviews, aligning technical requirements with project objectives
- Fluency in both English and Swedish (written and spoken)
- Demonstrated ability to challenge forecasts, control engineering costs, and drive on-time delivery from engineering partners
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, IPMA) or equivalent training
- Civil engineering experience or education related to heavy industry plant projects
- Experience with brownfield mill upgrades and start-up coordination in heavy process industries
- Familiarity with Swedish and European codes and standards for building services and industrial installations
